Hoysala Festival – Hassan

A festival of traditional dances and music, it’s held at the glorious Hoysala temples at Belur and Halebid. The temples are architectural wonders and have amazing stone carvings depicting gods and scenes of epic battle. The temples were built by the Hoysala king to commemorate a military victory in 1117 A. D. The temples were renovated from time to time by his successors. Visit these magnanimous temples to partake in the art fest with Indian Festival tours.

Hoysala Festival Tours - Hassan (Karnataka)

Day 01 ARRIVAL BANGALORE
Meting and assistance on arrival at Bangalore airport and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon sightseeint tour of city Bangalore – the Garden City of India visiting the Lal Bagh which has a variety of old Trees, Fountains, Lotus Pools, Terraces and an assortment of tropical herbs and sub tropical herbs. Also see the Govt. buildings and the Maharajas Palace. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 BANGALORE - HASSAN
Morning after breakfast departure by surface to Hassan en route visiting the Jain temple at Sravanabelgola situated on top of a hill. Five hundred steps cut out of rock lead to the summit and the colossal statue of Lord Gomateswara. It is nearly eighteen hundred years old. Continue your drive to Hassan. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 HASSAN (HOYASALA FESTIVAL)

Morning after breakfast excursion to the Chenna Kesava Temple of Belur built 900 years ago and the 12th century Hoysaleswara and Kedareswara temples at Halebid. Afternoon the traditional Music and Dance. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04 HASSAN - MYSORE
Morning after breakfast departure by surface to Mysore upon arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Mysore visiting the Palace of the Maharaja built in 1911-12. Visit the Art Gallery, drive up to Chamundi Hill to see the Chamundeshwari Temple and a panoramic view of Mysore. On your way back, see the Nandi Bull.

Day 05 MYSORE - CALICUT
Morning after breakfast departure by surface to Calicut (approx. 170 kms). Upon arrival check-in at Kadavu Resorts. Overnight at the Resort.

Day 06 CALICUT
Morning sightseeing tour of Calicut. Visit Kappad - the place where Vasco da Gama set foot for the first time when he came to India on May 27, 1498. There is a small stone monument at the beach to commemorate that event. Museum is located on the East Hill. Overnight at the Resort.

Day 07 CALICUT – COCHIN
Morning after breakfast, depart by surface to Cochin (5 hrs approx.) en route visiting the Elephant train centre at Guruvayoor. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Cochin. Cochin is a city with an eventful history. The Portuguese, the Dutch, the English all had established themselves here at one time or the other. Prominent attractions are the Jewish synagogue, Santa Cruz church (built in 16th century by the Dutch ), cochin fort (built-1503 by the Dutch ), Bolgatty Palace built by Dutch in 1744 and the St. Francis church

( built-1510 AD by the Dutch ) where Vasco de Gamma was buried ( later his remains were taken to Portugal, but his tombstone is still there at the St. Francis church which is the oldest church in India built by Europeans ) Evening witness a Kathakali Dance Drama. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 08 COCHIN- HOUSE BOAT
Morning after breakfast depart by surface to Alleppey and upon arrival board House Boat to Kumrakom and cruise on the enchanting backwaters, engulfed by a lush-green landmass lying below sea level, known as Kuttanad, which is known as the rice-bowl of Kerala for its paddy fields. Overnight on board the house-boat.

Day 09 HOUSE BOAT – KUMRAKOM – KOVALAM
Morning after breakfast, disembark from the House Boat and transfer to Kovalam. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Rest of the day free of leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10 KOVALAM
Morning after breakfast day free of leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 KOVALAM
Morning after breakfast day free of leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12 KOVALAM
Morning after breakfast day free of leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13 KOVALAM
Morning after breakfast day free of leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
